Nice little juveniles in the duck house outside run...
The first time we stopped in at the Hilltown Agway Farm Store and they had baby ducks, we came home with six.... That, and a previous purchase of six baby chicks, was the beginning of the farm.
Below are some pictures of ducks we hatched ourselves. We hatched the first batch in an incubator, in the basement, and then rapidly decided that we positively needed a brooding house to hatch and raise our young chicks and duck peeps.
Soon, Vick and I erected an 8 by 8 foot building with a door, windows, lights and receptacles. We constructed hinged, side shelves, which allowed us to brood in six different 2 by 2 foot areas, under heat lamps, with the entire floor area open... capable of two, 2 by 8 foot areas, on either side of a walkway in the middle for juveniles. They can live and grow there until they are ready for the barn area and free ranging, with the others. Both Vick and I will always have ducks because they are the most enjoyable of all the birds on the farm. They have real personality and are extremely humorous.
*** Sorry... We do not sell adult ducks! They are ours, because we have become attached to them all. Unsold youngsters, will also become ours the longer we are around them because they become farm regulars with personalities. ***
